Rodolfo (Dindo Fernando) and Claudia (Dang Cecilio) stand to inherit millions from a departed relative but under strange conditions that will pit the power of money against their hearts’ desires.

There’s no love lost between Rodolfo and his rich dead aunt so he regards the will as a curse when she asks him to produce a child by natural means with his wife Maritess (Alona Alegre) within a year and for the child to undergo a blood test to prove his paternity.  Having been childless after 10 years of marriage and seriously doubting his fertility, Rodolfo is convinced by his lawyer to engage Eric (Romeo Vasquez) to seduce Maritess and possibly father “their” child.  Eric shares his blood type anyway and is desperate enough to do and be paid for the task in order to help his ailing nephew.

Meanwhile, Claudia had a privileged but controlled life under the moneyed lady’s care and now that she’s gone, she bounds her to a year of chastity before she can get her inheritance. Seems easy until, in an effort to save Maritess from Rodolfo’s devious plot, she is strangely attracted to Eric.

This highly-charged sexual drama was nominated in the 1984 FAMAS for art direction, screenplay and direction.

SYNOPSIS:

Sylvia (Nora Aunor) is a woman confused about her sexuality, out to carve a name for herself in a man’s world as a lawyer.  A chance meeting with a bar girl, Sabel (Vilma Santos) changes the course of her life. She believes to be in love with Sabel, or she thinks she is!

Soon after, Sabel hugs the headlines when she kills the son of a shipping magnate in self-defense.  Sylvia bails her out and vows to defend her in court — testing her skills against the feisty prosecution lawyer (Tommy Abuel) who has been courting her for ages and struggling with gender issues as she takes Sabel under her care.

Meanwhile, Sabel’s ex-lover and father of her love child Dante (Dindo Fernando) suddenly re-appears, asking for a reconciliation.  With the looming crisis she is about to face with her upcoming court case, Sabel is now torn between the woman who can give her a new lease on life and the man she loves but who abandoned her years ago.

His youngest daughter survives and is able to identify the offenders.  Judge Corpuz becomes conflicted if he will seek justice for his family through legitimate means or if he will he put the law in his own hands.

Then there is single mom, Ada (Jennylyn Mercado), a call center agent by night and student by day who in  the process neglects her son. Wendy (Cristine Reyes) is a busy woman with boyfriend issues while Marilou (Ruffa Guttierez), is a beauty queen turned CEO upon the death of her husband. Dara Dela Vega (Bianca King) is a Berkley graduate who is eager to prove herself at her new job for a television show. Theresa (Iza Calzado), is a nurse  who is content with her work but struggles to deal with her broken heart.

Their stories reflect the challenges of everyday women, involving family, love, money and the community.
